The Reverend Sarah J. Solada had Founded the First Church of Understanding out of her home at 1096 Lakewood in Detroit Michigan prior to her graduation from The School of Religion on March 25th 1947. The earliest record recently found shows her ministering as early as 1939.

Then later the actual Church building was located at 2222 Coplin & East Vernor in Detroit, Michigan.

Reverend Solada and the Church were community minded, as these following newspaper ads will show. The winners of the bicycles weren't of a particular religious demonination. They simply had to show the need for the family.
